"Disaster"

ACT FIVE

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE- SPACE

Wide shot on the Bridge.

WALSH

They’ve sustained heavy damage (taps on console) I think her impulse is down, sir.

SARA

Hail them.

CAPTAIN JERK’S face is on screen; his ship is tearing itself apart in the background.

CAPTAIN JERK

We can’t make it, Commander,  keep going without us.

SARA

That’s not how we do things in the Tars Tavik, Captain.

CAPTAIN JERK (angry)

Commander, I am ordering you to-

SARA

Shut up, sir, before I change my mind. (To DECKER) Helm to full, thrusters to half, get us back to that ship.

CUT TO EXT. INSIDE THE STORM-SPACE

The Nelson does a 180 before flying back into the storm.  A massive asteroid floats towards them, but the ship deftly flies through the rock as it breaks up around it.

It snatches the larger ship in a tractor beam.  But there’s a problem, the beam fails and falters, the engine seems to sputter.

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE-SPACE

TIGHT on SARA.

SARA

Why aren’t we moving, Mr. Decker?

DECKER

Power drain on the tractor beam, we can’t pull the Cherokee and escape the cloud at the same time.

SARA taps her comm.

SARA

Mr. Muket, I realize you’re having a rough first day, but if you could please give me back my tractor beam, I’d appreciate it.

CUT TO INT. ENGINEERING-SPACE

MUKET’S running from console to console in the engine room.

MUKET

The additons we made to the pattern buffer are sucking up all our energy, I’m gonna have to reroute a few systems.

SARA (comm)

How long?

MUKET

Too long, so I’m gonna do something a little creative.

MUKET runs to the other side of engineering, and grabs a large cable connected to the wall. He starts trying to pull it out.

ZIRAL looks concerned.

ZIRAL

What are you doing?

MUKET

Boosting the tractor beam right into the core power cache.

ZIRAL

That’s going to overload every secondary system on the ship, are you crazy?

MUKET

Kind of.

MUKET jams the thick cable right into an exterior slot on the core. The lights start to spark and go crazy.

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE-SPACE

TIGHT on DECKER.

DECKER

We’ve got full power!

SARA

Punch it!

CUT TO EXT. INSIDE THE STORM-SPACE

The Nelson snags the Cherokee with its tractor beam and drags the other ship out of the cloud.

The tiny refugee planet breaks apart as the storm sandblasts the surface.

CUT TO INT. ENGINEERING-SPACE

The top of the warp core starts to spark as the entire engine room becomes some sort of huge tesla coil. Deadly futuristic energy bolts shoot from the core and it’s surface becomes electrified.

Engineers start running for their lives.

BIG BAJORAN

Overload! Everybody out!

Alarms sound and a big, heavy door starts sealing off the room.

ZIRAL and the other engineers make it out first but the BIG BAJORAN trips and falls.  ZIRAL wants to go back and get him but the other engineers hold her back.

A bolt of electric death smashes the deck next to the Bajoran.

Out of nowhere, MUKET swoops in and lifts the BIG BAJORAN to his feet.  They run to safety just as the door seals off the engine room.

Outside in the hallway, MUKET helps the BIG BAJORAN lean against the wall.

MUKET notices a rip in the sleeve of his uniform jacket.

MUKET

Unbelievable, that’s the third one this we-

He looks up to see the Bajorans staring at him, they’re impressed. He’s earned their respect.  MUKET nods silently, not wanting to ruin the moment.

FADE TO EXT. STARBASE 234-SPACE

The Nelson and the damaged Cherokee have arrived at a rather serene little world, a bunch of other Starfleet vessels are there with them.

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE-SPACE

CAPTAIN JERK is on the view screen and he looks pretty embarrassed.

CAPTAIN JERK

The refugee resettlement has already begun, we’ll probably have somewhere for them to live in the next day or so. (pause) Thank you, Commander.

SARA

You’re welcome, sir.

The view screen cuts out and SARA, rather pleased with herself, settles into the Captain’s chair.

FROST snickers.

FROST

Showboat.

SARA

Hey, we saved his life, I deserve the kudos.

FROST

Kudos has a shelf life.

SARA

Blackmail doesn’t, and I’m gonna hang that over his head for years.

FROST stares at SARA, curious. Then smiles.

FROST

You’re evil, you belong in the Tars Tavik.

SARA

You’re probably right.

CUT TO INT. HALLWAY OUTSIDE OF DECKER’S ROOM.

DECKER steps off the turbo lift and sees…

WALSH and CALLAHAN are stuck to the surface of his door. A glossy, colorless substance seems to have them glued down.

WALSH

A little help, please?

DECKER

What the hell happened?

CALLAHAN

We don’t know! We accepted your invitation for lunch and then we got…like this.

DECKER

I never invited you to lunch!

DECKER tries to pull them off the sticky door; he puts his hand on the door for leverage, big mistake. Now he’s stuck too.

DECKER

God damn it! (to WALSH) Can you reach your comm?

They struggle to reach their comms, after a few seconds they maneuver into some really awkward positions.

Everyone freezes when they hear the sound of a holo camera.

MUKET and SOPRIN are standing in front of them; MUKET is holding the holo camera aloft with pride.

SOPRIN raises an eyebrow.

SOPRIN

I am not an expert in humanoid comedy; however I believe this is extremely amusing.

MUKET

Three humans stuck to a wall? Yeah, it’s pretty funny. Did you see their faces?

MUKET snaps another picture.

MUKET (smiles)

I think I’m gonna like this ship.

CUT TO EXT. NELSON IN SPACE-SPACE

The Nelson’s engines power up and the ship begins to elongate…bam it speeds away to another adventure.

FADE TO EXT. ROMULUS-SPACE

A planetary shot of Romulus, a gray world.

PRAETOR TAL’AURA (VO)

Our next order of business…

CUT TO INT. ROMULAN SENATE-DAY

TAL’AURA from Nemesis, sits in the Praetor chair smiling as two other Nemesis characters enter the room: COMMANDER SURAN, COMMANDER DONATRA. This is the great Triumvirate of Romulus that’s trying to lead the people into a new age. Believe it or not, these are the three nicest Romulans to ever set foot in the Senate house and they still killed dozens of people to get to their positions.

TAL’AURA seems happy to see her old conspirator friends. She makes a motion to the Praetorian guard to allow them to sit.

TAL’AURA

The Praetor wishes to recognize the co-leaders of the Romulan fleet, all hail.

The Senators in the background rise and bow as the pair enters. The two commanders do the same for the Senate. It’s creepy and fascist.

TAL’AURA

I eagerly await your report, Commanders.

SURAN reaches for a series of scrolls, Romulans don’t use pads for official business.

SURAN

On the matter of internal security, our investigation into the events of two months ago continues. The evidence provided by Federation Ambassadors has proven quite helpful and we believe we shall have the matter settled soon. I continue to be concerned with the matters I raised in closed session but that may resolve itself with the appropriate show of force, as you know.

TAL’AURA nods.

TAL’AURA

I am aware. I am also glad to hear you’re moving forward with the investigation. (to DONATRA) I believe there was a further issue your fleet investigated?

DONATRA motions to some Reman slaves who set up a star chart beside her.

DONATRA

Some of our scientists are concerned about the Hobus system, a super massive star at the edge of the territory. They claim that Hobus may soon die out. They believe that there is some danger the star will go supernova but they prefer to study the-

The lights in the chamber house go out. There’s screaming and panic…is it another coup? Is Shinzon somehow back?

The Praetorian guard rush to protect TAL’AURA.

DONATRA and SURAN draw disruptors.

A single humanoid being steps onto the Praetor’s platform. It’s wearing a skull like mask and a long black cloak. It’s voice is over dubbed and distorted.

BONE LORD

Good after noon, distinguished representatives. I am loathe to disrupt your important business, but I feel I am required to deliver a brief announcement.

TIGHT on the BONE LORD.

BONE LORD

I am going to kill you all. Not today, but soon. Romulus will know fear and you will bear witness to a new order in the Galaxy. An order that Romulus will not be a part of.

DONATRA tries to tackle the BONE LORD but goes right through.

SURAN looks concerned.

SURAN

It’s a hologram.

BONE LORD

I am not among you, but I will be soon. Await me at the turn of the harvest season, when Remus is large in your sky.

The BONE LORD points at SURAN and DONATRA.

BONE LORD

I expect that your pathetic military will try to prevent my arrival and I am eager to test my power against them, though I am confident that you shall soon discover what I already know: None may stand against the Lord of Bones. (to the rest of the Senate) Weep, beg, scream…but expect no mercy.

As quickly as it arrived, the Hologram cuts out and the lights return to normal.

TIGHT on the PRAETOR. She’s actually scared.

FADE TO BLACK
