"Departure I"

ACT SIX

CUT TO EXT. FERON PRIME NORTHERN SUBURBS-DAY

SARA and JIMENEZ walk through a residential neighborhood with big blocks of apartments on either side of them.

CU on SARA as her communicator beeps.

SARA

This is Lyons, go ahead.

CALLAHAN (over comm)

We found a local looking to collect on Koloth’s reward money.

SARA (confused)

There is no reward for the fugitive.

CUT TO EXT. FERON PRIME SOUTHERN SUBURBS-DAY

CALLAHAN is smiling to herself.

CALLAHAN

Yes ma’am, but he doesn’t know that.

A just out of earshot, PROVIX is questioning a local: GROX.  GROX has that same greedy look in his eyes.

CUT TO EXT. FERON PRIME NORTHERN SUBURBS-DAY

CU on SARA

SARA

Excellent work, Lieutenant, but don’t call me ma’am. (taps her comm.) Lyons to Nelson, I need a site to site transport to Lieutenant Callahan’s position.

DECKER (over comm.)

Ready, sir.

SARA

Energize.

CUT TO EXT. SYNDICATE HOUSE-DAY

PROVIX and CALLAHAN are across the street from the Syndicate House watching it from behind a pile of discarded boxes.  It’s a tense moment and in spite of the cold, CALLAHAN is clearly sweating.  NERI and WOLFE appear behind them, CALLAHAN jumps a little when WOLFE grabs her shoulder

CALLAHAN

Don’t do that, sir!

WOLFE

Feeling jumpy, Harriet? Where’s the Commander?

PROVIX

Around the back, what took you so long?

WOLFE and NERI share a look.

NERI

We had a…dispute with some of the locals.

WOLFE

Do we have a plan yet?

CALLAHAN

Commander goes in with Jimenez, reads Koloth his rights, we stay back as support and the Doctor makes sure no one dies.

WOLFE (shocked)

That’s a really stupid plan.

CALLAHAN

Notice I’m not disagreeing, sir. Is it true we aren’t allowed to wear side arms on the Bridge?

WOLFE (heavy sigh)

Yes. Yes it is.

CUT TO INT. SYNDICATE HOUSE-DAY

LYONS and JIMENEZ step into the bar.  They walk past WEI, who is now very drunk and surrounded by empty bottles of kanar. They walk past aliens and humans, past slave girls and dancers.

CU on SARA’S very determined face.  They push all the way to the back where KOLOTH is casually lounging.

KOLOTH (laughing)

I was not aware the Federation drank here. (serious) Unless you intend to remove your clothing or bring me ale, I do not desire your company, wench.

There’s a resounding chorus of laughter through out the bar and JIMENEZ gets a little jumpy. He reaches for his phaser.

CU on SARA, shaking her head.  He releases his hold on the weapon.

SARA

Koloth of House Kor, third son of Kot’ash, I hereby place you under arrest for high crimes against the Federation and it’s allies.

The laughter gets louder each time she reads a charge until she’s shouting to be heard.

SARA

These crimes include but are not limited to piracy, murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder, and terrorism against a sovereign galactic power.

KOLOTH

You have no authority over me! I am a Klingon citizen!

SARA

The Klingon-Federation Treaty gives me all the authority I need.

CU on WEI, his eyes snap open, he completely loses it.

WEI

Klingons?! KLINGONS!

He grabs a bottle and smashes it over JIMENEZ’S head.  The bar erupts into a massive brawl and SARA is pushed away from KOLOTH by two burly Nausicaans.  Before she can find him again, KOLOTH slips out of SARA’S line of sight and disappears.

SARA

Damnit!

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE-SPACE

A handsome kid named CREWMAN LR WALSH stands behind the sensor console.  His screen flashes a warning and zooms in on one single ship contact out of the hundreds in orbit.  He looks over at FROST.

WALSH

Sir, one of the ships off our bow just changed it’s registry beacon.

FROST (bored)

It’s probably a cargo ship; they have to change their registry every time they enter Romulan space.

WALSH’S console beeps.

WALSH

Well they just did it again.

FROST snaps to full attention, his whole body is tensed and he’s suddenly paying very close attention to everything on the Bridge.

FROST

Full impulse, take us after that ship. Mr. Walsh, Power up the tractor beam.

DECKER

But sir-

FROST

NOW!

CUT TO EXT. ORBIT AROUND FERON PRIME-SPACE

The Nelson springs to life and lurches after a tiny shuttle as it weaves in and out of the space lanes.  The shuttle narrowly avoids colliding with two larger ships as it fights to get clear of the planet’s orbit.

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE-SPACE

CU on FROST

FROST

People don’t switch their registry more then once unless they don’t want to be found. Mr. Decker, you stay on that ship.

CUT TO EXT. ORBIT AROUND FERON PRIME-SPACE

A gigantic hulking freighter is between the Nelson and her prey.

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE-SPACE

Two shot, DECKER and FROST

DECKER

Plotting course around the freighter.

FROST

Go underneath it

DECKER

Sir?

FROST

We can make it, just go.

CUT TO EXT. ORBIT AROUND FERON PRIME-SPACE

The Nelson charges forward at high speed as it tries to course correct to dive underneath the other ship.  And it rams hull first into another, even larger freighter.

CUT TO INT. NELSON BRIDGE- SPACE

Everybody on the bridge is thrown off their feet as the ship comes to a screeching halt.

CU as DECKER lands on his arm wrong, breaking it.  A couple of consoles explode and the command chair comes loose from it’s axle. The Bridge has looked better.

FROST

Damage report.

WALSH

Minimal damage to the saucer section but no hull breach. The other ship is still functional but it’s venting plasma into space.

He taps a button on his console, just in time to have it fire sparks at his hand.  WALSH grabs his burned hand in pain and FROST rushes over to help him.

CU on FROST, glaring at the tiny shuttle on their view screen…fading out of sight.

FROST

Damnit!
